Did you ever pretend you were a mermaid when you were a kid? I did, and one thing I loved to do was swim down under water, open my eyes, and look up towards the sky. That fractured, watery light always seemed magical. Clouds, trees, flowers - whatever I saw above the water took on a magical, other-worldy appearance. Plenty for a little girl's imagination! Eventually, of course, I'd have to come up for air, swimming up through light and fractured rainbows of color.
